Dear Covered Girls!!!
This year has been pretty complex for me. I turned 30 in January, and I took a leap of faith and started school at a design school to pursue my longtime dreams of being able to express myself creatively, artistically, and freely. This in turn will result in creating my own business. My ideas have been running wild in my mind for years, but it's taken so long to be and stay inspired.
While sitting in my computer applications class for fashion merchandising a few Friday's ago. My instructor shared some stories with us . One of them was a video of Gary Vaynerchuk. An entrepreneur, investor, author, public speaker, and Internet personality. Since he showed us this video I've been listening to him speak, as well as other public/inspirational speakers, and one of the things I've taken away from him is something he said.
YOU HAVE TO UNDERSTAND YOUR OWN PERSONAL DNA.
DON'T DO THINGS BECAUSE I DO THEM OR STEVE JOBS OR
MARK CUBAN TRIED IT. YOU NEED TO KNOW YOUR PERSONAL
BRAND AND STAY TRUE TO IT!
-Gary Vaynerchuk
This stood out to me as an aspiring artist/entrepreneur! In the past I've looked at others work, and thought. I could do that! When I finally realized that I need to work on my own creative self, and be free to get in touch with my own personal DNA. My personal brand is something I've been investigating this last quarter, and it's been a great relief to realize my strengths, and my weaknesses. I'm learning to focus on what I AM good at and not to let the things I'm NOT good at stop me from being successful. In the end I might end up even being great at those things I sucked at! The point is to keep at it. Don't loose momentum. Stay inspired. Make sure you surround yourself with inspiring individuals!! My inspiration has come from pushing myself to go to class after I've worked an 8 hour shift, and don't feel like sitting in class for 3 hours, but I go anyway. Only to find out that the class was inspiring in itself to be able to sit with my peers, and my instructor and critique our work together. Hearing other people talk about my work and give there critique has made me realize it is necessary to keep these types of people around me even past my education!
This summer has been inspiring. I'm finishing my last two weeks of summer quarter , and moving on to fall quarter at VMCAD! Although I took an unexpected break from teaching young ladies to hand sew, and inspiring them to be creative I feel it was necessary to do some soul searching in order to help them further!
So here I go again to explore myself, and work on my own personal brand, and know my own DNA!
As always stay inspired!!! It's the only way to push yourself to success!!!!

A new chapter!!!
Dear Covered Girls,
Lately, it's been hard to feel accomplished. I've been giving most of my time the company I work for, and recieving little satisfaction in the real things that interest me. They are a great employer, but i've always wanted something more. Today , I recieved my books in the mail for school. At the "tender" age of 30, i've decided to transfer all my credits into a program that seems to fit me just right. Fashion!!! I wanted to do Fashion design, but the program required that I completely change my work schedule, which is not an option right now. So i've decided to go for Fashion merchandising, which is also right down my ally. I'll pick up one or two basic fashin classes to supplement things, but the point is that this is what i want to do. I've wasted a lot of time trying to find myself, and this is finally something i'm very passionate about. My prayers were truly answered. Most of the time i'm wondering through life, just trying to get by, and make a living to keep a roof over my little family's head, and now I feel like i've got something to look forward to after I graduate. The last couple of months i've been really mentally beating myself up for not accomplishing the things I said I wanted to do, but it seems like God gives us the push we need right when we need it. He truly knows best, and is the most Grascious Creator of all! Stay tuned for the fun i'm about to have!! I can't wait to share it with you all!!!
Stay enspired, and never give up on your dreams!

Dear Covered Girls!!
It's been a while since I've posted! I've been busy, and sometimes unmotivated, but my intention is to keep this blog going!
Ever feel like the world is against you. Like even some of those closest to you don't support your goals and dreams. I've felt like that lately, but I've also learned some lessons in my recent struggle Sometimes, it's those people who don't support you that help fuel your determination, and drive to be as successful as possible! I generally LOVE crafting, sewing, designing things. I've just recently embraced it as a possible way to make a living in my future, and be happy at what I do. I don't ever have enough time to focus on the designing and sewing part, nor the money always. But I was recently told that my sewing, arts, and crafts classes for girls 6 and up, won't do me any good, or bring me fast money. (contact faizascloset@gmail.com to sign up) This came from someone very close to me. At first, I was devastated. This person that I love, and would support through anything even if their own dreams didn't seem logical to me, but made sense to them couldn't even lend me a positive supportive imaginary hand. That hurt deeply, but it motivated me to try my hardest to get things moving forward! No matter what others think. Be yourself! Stay motivated and keep pushing to be the best YOU!

Dear Covered Girls,
It's quite obvious that I am a Muslim. I just want to discuss the subject of modesty. I want to talk about why I cover. So that maybe all the different types of women reading my blog, or following me on social media can understand the meaning of hijab. The word itself in Arabic means barrier or partition. In Islam however it has a broader meaning. It's the principle of modesty, and includes behaviour as well as dress for both males and females. Hijab in Islam is the most visible form. I am a second generation Muslim. I was born into Islam. Covering my hair started at a young age. My parents prepared me to shield my beauty from the world with hijab as a form of protection, self pride, and modesty. As a young teenager, and adult I strayed away from my hijab, but my journey to self resulted in rejuvenating my love for hijab, and encouraging modesty in all females. You don't have to wear hijab to be modest, but for me, it's definitely a plus!!! Besides, how else would I put my large collection of scarves to good use! I express myself through fashion of all kinds, and hijab is one of them! This blog is not just for women of the Islamic faith, but any woman who decides to guard herself with modesty! Hijab is my guard of choice!
As always,

Did you know that many people mistake women with head coverings for being Muslim? Muslim women aren’t the only ones that cover their hair with a veil or scarf. Orthodox Jewish women cover similar to muslim women. I’ve often mistaken a Sikh woman for a Muslim woman , and had to apologize for my ignorance. There are other faiths who wear head coverings.
I was just online and came across a quiz called “ Can you tell her religion by her head covering”? I failed brutally, and am ashamed about my ignorance on telling people’s religion apart by the headcovering. lol
I decided long ago when I was one of two Muslim children in my elementary school.( My sister was the second. lol) That I would try my hardest not to judge a book by its cover. When I took this test and failed, I knew I had to investigate further. I’ve made the mistake of assuming a Sikh woman for a Muslim many times, and as a child or young adult, I didn’t know any better until my parents told me.
So when I took this quiz, and I ended up getting 8 out of 14 questions right. I asked myself whether i’ve taken the time educate myself on other faiths, just as i’ve encouraged my friends of the Christian, Jewish, Hindu, Sikh faiths to do. I am currently reading about every faith where women wear head coverings. I believe we all owe it to ourselves to be aware of the diverse melting pot we call home. We are all different colors, shapes, sizes, AND faiths!
See my results to the test! lol OUCH… lol
Quiz: Can you tell her religion from her head covering?
Your Score: 8 / 14
Your Ranking: 50/50 - Pull your yashmak down, it's clearly covering your eyes. You got hardly any right, I'm starting to wonder if you can even spell H-I-J-A-B.
The purpose of this quiz was to emphasise that Muslim women who choose to wear a hair covering are not oppressed, they are following in the footsteps of women from every major religion.
If you’re also interested in taking the quiz to see if you can differentiate her religion by her head covering go to the link below! I hope it intrigues you as much as it did me! Enjoy!

Dear Covered Girls!
Reaching out to women who love fashion, but do it modestly! It's a constant struggle in certain areas of the world to cover, and do it modestly. The general population of stores carry revealing, and tight clothing, and it takes time to patch together an outfit out of a regular store! I'm working on a new project to bring something easy to my part of the country, and share it with the generation of new girls who want to get dressed, and walk out the door to their runway of self confidence! All because of the clothes they've put on their backs, or the scarf they've thrown over there hair, or around their necks! I'll be updating my journey in the local stores picking out everyday outfits! Sharing my ideas on how to put yourself together for any day, in any season!!
